Sharing and security

Share your work. Keep your data.

Share documents and databases without moving them to the cloud. Your files stay on your computer, and you choose who gets access.

How XataWorks sharing works On the left, your computer holds a document and database. An encrypted connection leads to invited people on the right. Your files remain on your computer. Your computer Files stay here Encrypted People you invite Only the access you give
Your computer hosts the files. Invited people connect securely to view or work on them.

You’re in control

Choose what to share

Share a document or database without sharing your entire workspace.

Set permissions

Give people view or edit access. For databases, you can also allow design changes.

Remove access

Change your mind? Revoke access. Your computer checks permissions on every request.

One thing to know: Your computer must be on and XataWorks must be running for others to reach shared files. If it’s offline, the files are unavailable.

Questions about security?

Can XataWorks read my shared files?

Sharing doesn’t upload your documents or databases to XataWorks servers. Our servers can know who you share with, but not the contents of what you share.

What if devices can’t connect directly?

The connection can pass through a XataWorks relay. It forwards end-to-end encrypted traffic without being able to read it.

How do I know I’m connecting to the right computer?

Each computer has an identity linked to its XataWorks account. Connecting devices verify that identity.
